The Coffee County School System is composed of eight elementary schools (pre-K through grade 5), one middle school (grades six through eight), a ninth-grade academy, one comprehensive high school (grades ten through twelve), one separate college and career academy (grades nine through twelve) and one alternative program (grades six through twelve). The school system is governed by a five-member board of education elected for a four-year term on a non-partisan basis. The school superintendent is appointed by the board and serves as the chief executive officer. The system serves approximately 7,600 students in Pre-K through 12th grade.

Dr. Shannon Shook
Dr. Shannon Shook Named New Assistant Athletic Director

The Coffee County School System is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Shannon Shook as the new Assistant Athletic Director for the district. Dr. Shook brings more than 27 years of experience in education and athletics, beginning his career in 1999. A former student-athlete at Coffee High School, he continued his athletic career at Georgia Southern University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Kinesiology.

Allyson Speight
Allyson Speight Named New Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment

The Coffee County School System is pleased to announce the hiring of Mrs. Allyson Speight as the new Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. A lifelong resident of Douglas, Mrs. Speight is a highly driven educational leader with 27 years of dedicated service to the Coffee County School System. She currently serves as the district’s Director of Assessment and Accountability, where she has played a pivotal role in aligning instructional systems with district strategic initiatives to support continuous improvement across all schools.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING • COFFEE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION

All concerned citizens are invited to a public hearing during which the Budget for the Fiscal Year 2027 will be presented. The hearing will be held at the regular Work Session of the Coffee County Board of Education located at 211 Gaskin Avenue S., Douglas, GA 31533, on May 14, 2026 at 5:30 pm. This will be the second of two public hearings to present the 2026-2027 Fiscal Budget.

Grady Hart Named New Assistant Superintendent of Operations and Facilities

The Coffee County School System is pleased to announce the selection of Mr. Grady Hart as the new Assistant Superintendent of Operations and Facilities. Mr. Hart brings educational leadership experience, with a proven track record of leadership in school operations, safety, student services, and facilities coordination. He currently serves as Assistant Principal at Coffee High School and System-Wide Assistant Athletic Director, where he has played a critical role in managing complex operational systems across multiple schools.
