Happy National School Social Work Week!

March 6 - 12, 2016

School social workers across Georgia serve as vital members of the educational team, playing a central role in creating a positive school climate and partnerships between the home, school, and community to ensure student academic success; and

School social workers support the educational, social, and emotional development of all students by decreasing the impact of barriers to academic success; and

School social workers provide interventions to address challenges such as mental health, behavior difficulties, disabilities, crisis response, poverty, bullying, grief, abuse, neglect, and other hardships to enable students to achieve academic goals; and

School social workers provide staff development training and consultation to school staff members, family members, and community stakeholders on topics that impact students’ ability to learn.  They empower and assist families in accessing resources to improve their circumstance; and

School Social Work Week honors those who are committed to ensuring that our young people receive the most out of their educational opportunities by overcoming barriers to learning.
