Coffee Grounds for Education Community Spelling Bee | ||||||
The Spelling Bee has been rescheduled to Tuesday, March 5 due to severe weather.
Now is your opportunity to be named the community's Top Speller and retain those prestigious "bragging rights" and the KILLER BEES Trophy for an entire year! We urge you to take the first step by sponsoring a three-person team to compete in our community’s Spelling Bee. This team can be made up of your employees, customers, board members, or any three adults that you would like to represent your team. If you choose not to have a team, please consider becoming a sponsor of Gold, Silver, or Bronze status or a patron. Your name or business name will be published and listed in the Spelling Bee Program.
The Spelling Bee will be held in the cafeteria of Coffee High School. A reception for team sponsors and team members will be held prior to the competition. The reception will begin at 5:00 p.m., and the Bee will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. This will be a team competition with team members working together to spell the words! There will be entertainment prior to the event provided by the Coffee High Show Choir and Jazz Band.
All proceeds from the Bee will be used to promote literacy in our community. In fact, all monies raised through this project will be used inCoffeeCounty! The goal of the CLCP is to reach residents ofCoffeeCountywho do not have a high school diploma or GED and let them know of the literacy resources available to aid them in their continuing education. We hope by encouraging our residents to continue their education, we will be able to supply businesses and industries with a more literate workforce, enable parents to help their children in school, and helpCoffeeCountycontinue to be a great community in which to live. In order for Coffee County to be competitive in economic development, we must have a work force that is qualified for the jobs that will come to our county.
The information on sponsoring a team for the Spelling Bee is enclosed. Should you have any questions about the Spelling Bee or CLCP, please don't hesitate to contact us. You may call me, Sherri Jenkins, at 384-7071, or Dr. Bernie Evans at 384-2086 ext 6507.
Thank you for your time in considering this matter. We appreciate your assistance and willingness to help improve the literacy levels for all individuals, thus making our community as a whole stronger and more vital. The deadline for entering a team is Friday, January 31, 2013. Please register early – the number of teams is limited!
Sincerely, Sherri M. Jenkins |
